Our Projects
Preserving and sharing Clowne’s heritage through research, memorials and community projects
Clowne Local History Society is involved in a number of projects that record and protect the heritage of our village. From researching the names on our war memorial to creating a walking trail through Clowne’s history, our work brings the past to life for future generations.
CLHS’s Current Research:
HMS Britomart
We are currently researching the family histories of the 21 sailors who lost their lives when HMS Britomart was sunk in 1944. If you have any connection to these men or their families, we would love to hear from you.
